In my Graphic Design Class, I was assigned to reimagine a book cover. I chose Born a Crime, by Trevor Noah. Using my knowledge of the book and graphic design, I created a cover that represents the book and its content. The book tells the tales of Trevor Noah’s childhood in South Africa, especially stories of his mother. I selected patterns and typography to convey the book's ethnic focus. I also chose a picture of Noah and his mom as the main focus of the front cover, since she is such a main focus of the book. I felt it was fitting to add a crumpled paper texture to overlay onto the covers to represent how their lives have gone through adversity.
