Left Behind

Dimensions: 8” x 12”

Medium: Acrylic Paint on Acrylic Sheets

For my AP Art Drawing Portfolio, I investigated the topic of the journey of a mid-20th-century European Immigrant coming to America. I looked at different points in an immigrant’s life, as well as the symbolism behind making the treacherous journey. Left Behind is about a girl who leaves her family in her home country to immigrate. To represent this, I painted on two different layers of clear acrylic sheets. The family is on the sheet behind the girl so that she stands alone, but with them.
